Title: Analysis on the Governance of Urban Water Environment Pollution during the Rainy Season in China

Introduction: Professor Zuxin XU holds the prestigious title of Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and is a professor at Tongji University. After completing her studies at the School of Engineering, University of Rome, Italy, she returned to China in 1995 and joined the College of Environmental Science and Engineering at Tongji University. She has held several significant positions, including Assistant to the President of Tongji University, Deputy Director and then Director of the Shanghai Environmental Protection Bureau, Deputy Director of the Shanghai Science and Technology Commission, and Consultant to the Shanghai Municipal Government. Additionally, she has served as the Deputy Chief Designer of the Major Science and Technology Project for Water Pollution Control, Chief Engineer for Technologies of Managing Six Water Issues in Hainan, Chief Expert for Water Resources Protection in Dali, Yunnan, and Consultant Expert for various United Nations water resources and pollution control projects. Professor XU has devoted her career to addressing heavily polluted urban rivers. She proposed the technical concept of “System Coupling Management” for heavily polluted urban rivers and developed a systematic solution with substantial practical outcomes. As the leader of the Technical Team for Suzhou River Comprehensive Water Environment Management, she made prominent contributions to improving the water environment of Suzhou River, and has also contributed to successful water environment projects in various cities in China. Professor XU has been playing a leading role in managing heavily polluted urban waters in China and has had a notable impact in the field of water environment management both in China and abroad. As the primary contributor, she has received more than ten national and provincial-level awards for scientific and technological progress.
